B. Sanitary Sewer System:
Collection
System and Treatment
The Sanitary
Sewer Collection System will be a complex network of underground pipes.
These pipes will have over 500 service connections, which connect almost
every building in the town. Altogether there are over 12 km of
underground pipes.
The pipes are
made from several different materials. These materials vary, depending
on the time they were installed. Concrete and clay pipes are common in
some areas of the Town.
The Sanitary Sewer System is
designed so that all of the waste collected flows "downhill" by gravity
to the main pump station at the treatment facility south of Jib Jannine.
All of the wastewater in Aita will be transported by gravity to the
Wastewater Treatment Facility except for a 10 KM away from the town.
Each of these areas requires a pumping station to "lift" the wastewater
to the adjacent gravity sewer.
A private sewer
truck used to pump out the waste from local underground tank to move
them out of town.
The sewer system is under
preparation as it will be implemented in July 2005. The Islamic Bank was
funded the project as a part from the regional sewer system in Rachaya
and West Bekaa Districts.
